Maine Civic Action specializes in training the next generation of liberty lovers in Maine. We offer numerous trainings for candidates, activists, and volunteers to help them run winning campaigns and maximize their impact at the local level. Liberty Starts Locally.
Ballot Access Training
Designed for candidates and campaign teams, this training walks participants through the rules, timelines, and best practices for collecting valid signatures to secure a place on the ballot. Attendees will learn how to plan a signature-gathering operation, avoid common pitfalls, and stay compliant with state requirements—helping campaigns meet deadlines confidently and efficiently.
Campaign Planning
This training is tailored for candidates who want to run a clear, disciplined, and winning campaign. Participants will learn how to set goals, build a campaign timeline, identify key voter targets, and allocate limited resources strategically. By the end, candidates leave with a practical roadmap to guide decision-making from launch to Election Day.
Door-to-Door Workshops
Our door-to-door workshops prepare candidates, activists, and volunteers to canvass effectively and confidently. Participants will learn how to engage voters at the door, deliver a clear message, handle tough conversations, and collect useful data. These hands-on trainings help campaigns build strong voter connections and maximize the impact of in-person outreach.
Candidate Absentee Ballot Training
This training helps candidates understand how absentee voting works and how to integrate it into their campaign strategy. Participants will learn the rules governing absentee ballots, how to educate voters about the process, and how to track and follow up effectively. The result is a stronger absentee program that boosts turnout and ensures voters’ voices are counted.
How to Run an Effective Town Committee
Designed for local activists, this training focuses on building and sustaining a strong, organized town committee. Participants will learn best practices for leadership, volunteer recruitment, meeting structure, and local organizing. This training equips grassroots leaders with the tools they need to grow local power and support candidates year-round.
Notary / Absentee Ballot Training
This training is for campaigns and activists who want to play a direct role in helping voters access absentee ballots. Participants learn the legal requirements, responsibilities, and best practices for notarizing and supporting absentee ballot requests. By expanding the pool of trained volunteers, campaigns and communities can remove barriers to voting and strengthen voter participation.
